  leaving the wts is very difficult.

  this is probably something few people can understand.

  "you left a church, so what, people do that every day".

  Thanks Matt for this. All who have left the wts are very courageous souls. It's not easy to leave "the tribe." Kudos and hugs to all.

  What's the Society's beef - The act of going to college OR getting a degree

  i have a question - the society laments about those jw's who ignore "wisdom from above" to pioneer after high school but go to college instead.. they use a fictional account of timothy rejecting higher education at the drama this year.. they scream in the oct 1st wt that university (consisting of four years) is bad and ask rheotorical questions to parents such as, "christian parents, is this what you really want for your children?".

  if the act of going to college campus was so bad, why doesn't the society permit "online degrees?

  " - these are more cost effective and just as valuable as a traditional campus based ecuation.. so what is it about going to university that really upsets them?.

  Interesting side note...when I did my online degree through this jw company, one of the stipulations made by the school for the thesis works was not to base most of your research on wts publications (because most students were doing so). I can't even believe that anyone would grant a degree to a student who used primarily wts publications for their research.
  Makes me want to go to university and get a "real" degree, because I'm kind of ashamed of this one. Although, I didn't use any wts publications for my thesis. Hell no! I mean really, what kind of thesis could you write solely based on the wts publications?!

  Happiness is...

  so what is happiness to you?.

  in the larger sense, it's knowing that my family and friends are happy and safe.. in the more immeadiate sense, happiness is burning down a duel-carriage way at 100mph with heavy metal pounding through the speakers.

  call me immature, but driving fast and listening to some great music is a really liberating feeling...

  I did an online degree, after taking a TESL (teaching English to speaker's of other languages) course. That course and the subsequent degree program are arranged through a jw's company. At each of these TESL courses this jw elder instructs, 90% of the students are jws. It seemed to be a "Society approved" alternative to the standard college education.
  So it would seem that it's the college atmosphere that the wts doesn't like, not necessarily the degree itself. I knew many pioneers that got a University degree by doing this program and they didn't get any flack from their congo about it.

  during the nineties, there was a big mexican family that attended our congregation.

  while they were not financially well off, they often enjoyed having the friends over for gatherings in their large home.

  did it have something to do with the way sister oliveros actually said the word broom-ho?

  still not a conscience matter... although for the countries that demand that everyone register and actually walk in the booth to cast a vote, a witness may, if his conscience allows, register and go into the booth and add a new box labelled "jesus christ", then checkmark that box and vote for him... hahaha cool eh?!!!.

  Theocratic Warfare: Is It Still Practiced?

  i was "in the truth" for about four years and was disfellowshipped thirty-three years ago at the age of nineteen.

  when i became involved, at age fifteen, i was taught 'theocratic warfare' which is 'lying for the truth.

  ' it really didn't bother me until i was several years older and became more introspective.

  I know one elder who thinks theocratic warfare is unchristian and is very vocal about it. He says he would not lie to defend "the truth." Hmmm...makes me wonder...maybe I should give him the scoop on 607. ;)

  One sister was doing a mag demo and began her presentation..."I'm ______ and this is my friend ________" She looks to her side to introduce her partner and no one is there. She was so into her presentation that she'd forgotten she didn't have anyone with her!
